Schools
Edmonton Public Schools offers diverse programming and an open boundary policy. The district offers a variety of alternative and special needs programs, many in multiple locations to improve accessibility for students.  These specialty programs are available at the elementary, junior and senior high levels.  Alternative Programs, while still following the provincial curriculum, allow students to focus on particular areas of interest.  Such options include immersion and bilingual programs in a variety of languages; advanced placement; academic, science and sports alternative programs; and an arts core program.  Special Education Programs are available at the majority of district schools, and include full and partial integration options, as well as specialized schools for special needs students in the area.  Assistance is provided in the form of behaviour and learning assistance programs, deaf and hard of hearing programs, individual support programs, and more.  A number of additional transition programs are available for high school students who are not experiencing success in traditional school environments; these programs work to assist students in improving their academic and social skills in order to improve their success.

Parks and Recreation
Edmonton offers year-round recreational opportunities in a variety of forms.  Local attractions, arenas, municipal golf courses, recreation centres, senior centres, stadiums, sports fields and tennis courts provide residents with the arts, cultural, and wellness activities that contribute to the city’s attractive lifestyle.

Health services in Edmonton and surrounding areas are provided by Capital Health, one of the country's top-rated health systems, known internationally for groundbreaking innovations and advances in medicine.  Capital Health provides services in a variety of facilities, including 13 hospitals and two primary care centres.  The staff and health care providers are some of the best in their field, and work with the latest technology and procedures to not only serve patients, but to train future health care professionals as well.
